Profile:

As a Taiwan local specialty, Sour Orange Tea is made of Tiger Orange and Oolong.

Tiger Orange is sour and bitter which is inedible if taken directly. Thus it was usually used as the ingredient for Chenpi (refer to Note 1), a traditional Chinese medicine. One century ago, smart ancestors dug the fruit out and mixed it with herbs such as Taiwan tea, mint, perilla, liquorice and Platycodon grandiflorum, and then put the mixture back into the peel. After complex steps such as binding, pressing, steaming, shining and drying for 3 months, the Sour Orange Tea with a long shelf life was produced.

After being around for decades, the Sour Orange Tea has gradually changed from sour to sweet taste. According to ancestors, it is useful for influenza, cough and crudum sputhum. A cup of hot Sour Orange Tea keeps you from catching a cold after you are caught in the rain.

In order to promote the outstanding tea of Taiwan, TRANSLOVE invited traditional Chinese physicians to develop the formula. Eaglewood (refer to Note 2), Chenpi and other precious herbs are added in the Eaglewood Sour Orange Tea.

Sour Orange Tea tastes better after being aged, so its value increases year by year. Easy to preserve and worth investing, it is a good choice for a gift.

Brewing Steps: Break the Sour Orange and put an appropriate amount into teapot. Brew it with 100 hot water and enjoy it after 2 minutes. It can be brewed for more than 8 times. It’s suggested to boil the brewed tea residue.

Chicken or Ribs Sour Orange Tea Soup: Pack up 75 g Sour Orange Tea by cotton yarn. Put it into casserole with chicken or ribs. Red dates or other vegetables are also suggested. Add an appropriate amount of water into the casserole and slowly boil it for 45-60 minutes. You will enjoy its freshness and delicacy (with salt if necessary).

Sweet Sour Orange Tea Soup: Add kumquat, chrysanthemum, mint and crystal sugar in the soup. Or add flavor to it according to your preference. The iced soup is for summer, while the hot soup is for winter.

Note 1Chenpi: A kind of traditional Chinese herb made of the dried peel of ripe orange. The longer it is preserved, the more effective it is. Chenpi can relieve the symptoms of cough, diarrhea and nausea.

Note 2 Eaglewood : The plant fat in Eaglewood is a kind of traditional Chinese herb used as spices. It is used in treating bellyache, nausea and asthma, and also useful for strengthening the heart and nerve functions.

 

簡介:
酸柑茶是台灣特產,主要原料是虎頭柑和烏龍茶。
虎頭柑果肉酸苦、不宜直接品嚐,是製作中藥「陳皮(*註1)」的原料。百年前的古人發揮巧思,將虎頭柑果肉挖出,與台灣茶葉、薄荷、紫蘇、甘草、桔梗等草本植物搓揉攪勻之後,再塞回虎頭柑皮內,歷經多次細心綑綁、壓擠、蒸、日曬、烘乾等繁複手工程序,約三個月的時間,製成久存不壞的酸柑茶。
歷經十年、三十年或更長時間的儲放,酸柑茶漸漸自然地從原本的酸澀,轉化為清涼甘醇的滋味。據前人指稱,酸柑茶對感冒、咳嗽、化痰有養生保健之用。如受淋雨,立即熱飲,有祛寒之益。
為了推廣臺灣的好茶,傳是樓特地請中醫師調製配方,再加入沉香(*註2)、老陳皮等珍貴中藥材,製成沉香酸柑茶。
酸柑茶越陳越香,價值與年俱增。珍藏簡易,餽贈保值。
酸柑茶沖泡方法:將酸柑茶整顆敲碎,取適量放入茶壺,用100度開水沖泡,約2分鐘即可飲用,可沖泡8次以上。泡過的茶不要丟棄,還可再熬煮。
酸柑茶雞湯、排骨湯:以棉紗布包約2兩的酸柑茶,把雞肉或排骨放入砂鍋,亦可加紅棗或蔬菜,並加入適量的水,小火燉煮45~60分,味道鮮美可口(可放鹽巴調味)。
酸柑茶甜湯:加入金桔、菊花、薄荷、冰糖熬湯,或依自己喜歡的口味調整,夏日冰飲、冬日熱飲。

 

【註1】陳皮:橘子成熟後的果皮曬乾製成的中藥材。放置年份越久越好。陳皮能緩和咳嗽,治療腹瀉、嘔吐。

【註2】沉香:沉香屬植物所產的含脂木質,是一種可作香料的中藥材。用來治療腹痛、嘔吐、氣喘等症狀。對於強化心臟及神經也具有療效。
